The Australian gaming powerhouse, Aristocrat Leisure, experienced a remarkable 47% surge in revenue, reaching AU$1 billion (roughly £490 million) in the half-year ending March 31st. This exceptional performance can be linked to strong growth in their primary markets, North America and Australia, where they’ve captured a greater portion of the market and witnessed an increase in both average sales prices and individual user spending. Their digital social gaming platform has also excelled, achieving unprecedented daily user numbers.
Financial gains are also evident. The firm announced a net profit after tax, excluding amortization of acquired intangible assets (NPATA), of AU$183.2 million, representing a 66% rise. Additionally, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) saw a substantial 53% leap to AU$3.724 billion.
Despite an unusual spike in the Australian market, recurring revenue streams now constitute half of Aristocrat’s total revenue, underscoring the robustness of their business strategy. They’ve also successfully decreased their net debt considerably, lowering it from AU$1.48 billion to AU$1.23 billion.
Chief Executive Jamie Odell conveyed his contentment with the company’s tenth successive quarter of profit expansion, indicating that he anticipates the latter half of the fiscal year to mirror the first. This optimistic forecast, however, did not significantly impact the stock market, with Aristocrat’s shares experiencing only a slight uptick on the Australian Securities Exchange.
