Kansas Sports Betting Sees Surge in August, Revenue Dips

The Kansas sports wagering scene witnessed a notable surge in August, with individuals placing bets totaling $94.4 million. This represents a substantial increase compared to the $79.7 million wagered in July. The majority of these wagers were placed online, with a minimal portion directed towards brick-and-mortar betting establishments.

Despite the heightened spending, the state’s revenue from betting activities actually declined in August. This is attributed to the state’s share of the wagered funds being reduced due to increased winnings by bettors.

Among the leading online betting platforms in Kansas, Boot Hill Casino and DraftKings emerged as top earners, generating significant revenue from bettors. Other prominent names like Kansas Star Casino and FanDuel also performed well.

In the realm of physical betting shops, Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway and Barstool stood out as the top performers. They generated the most revenue from patrons placing bets within their establishments.

This fiscal period, the government collected a substantial $484,366 in taxes. Digital tax revenue contributed significantly, reaching $448,445, while traditional retail taxes generated a respectable $35,921.
