Svenska Spel Appoints New IT Director

Svenska Spel, a Swedish gaming firm, has declared the selection of Mikael Franzén as its new IT leader, replacing Jörgen Olofsson.

Franzén presently serves as the Vice President of Svenska Spel’s Sport & Casino online gaming subsidiary, overseeing its B2B wagering operations. He will assume his new position on September 1, 2019, joining the operator’s executive team and reporting directly to CEO Patrik Hofbauer.

“I am thrilled to welcome Mikael Franzén to the new position of IT Director,” expressed Hofbauer. “I am equally pleased that we have identified an internal candidate [for the role], which reflects the strength of our enterprise.

“Mikael possesses extensive experience at Svenska Spel and within the gaming sector, which will be invaluable to the ongoing growth of our business,” he further stated.

Franzén has been involved in the gaming industry since 1993, initially joining Penninglotteriet, which merged with the state-owned gaming operator Tipstjänst in 1997 to form Svenska Spel. He has since held various roles at the company, contributing to the development and introduction of its online gaming offerings.

Franzen expressed his enthusiasm for his new role as head of the IT team at Svenska Spel. He stated that he is delighted to be leading the team. “We will work together to create, put into practice, and oversee solutions that enable Svenska Spel to offer customers a pleasurable and stimulating gaming experience in a secure and accountable manner,” he said.

Franzen further noted that he aims to leverage his extensive experience in the gaming sector and his expertise in developing competitive products within the dynamic digital gaming market.
